Ph.D in Engineering, professor, doctoral supervisor. council member of National University Manufacturing Technology and Machine Tool Research Association, senior member of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, editorial board member of the journal "Modular Machine Tool & Automatic Manufacturing Technique". Numerical Control Technology Laboratory Director of the Institute of Modern Manufacture Engineering, ZhejiangUniversity.

Joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Zhejiang University in 1982, graduated as MSc. in 1989 and being teaching in ZJU since then. Had been assigned to supporting NingboUniversity and won Sir Yue-Kong Pao Excellence Award. Got Ph.D degree in mechanical manufacturing and automation in 1999. Degree thesis “Forming Principle And NC Machining Technique for Polygon Non-circular Surface” won the Excellent Doctoral Thesis of Zhejiang University.

In recent years, took charge for and chiefly participated in 5 projects supported by the National Natural Science Fund and National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (863 Program); took charge for and chiefly participated in more than 30 projects in cooperating of provincial and ministerial enterprises, etc. Took charge for and chiefly participated in 3 projects that been research identified in provincial and ministerial level. 1 project won Science and Technology Progress Award of Zhejiang Province. Published more than 100 papers, in which more than 30 papers are included by SCI or EI. Applied for 14 patents, 13 of which were authorized, including 6 invention patents; gained 7 software copyrights.

Since 1986, focusing on mechatronical and numerical control technology; smart materials precision micro-driving technology and its application; product design, manufacturing automation and integration technology and other research fields.
